From Chaos to Clarity: How I Transformed My Life with Focus
Growing up, I felt different.
I was the kid who could never sit still, who constantly fidgeted in class, and who struggled to keep up with reading and writing assignments. I doodled a lot. Sometimes on things I shouldn’t.
While other kids seemed to breeze through their schoolwork, I often felt like I was stuck in quicksand, struggling to grasp concepts that seemed to come so easily to everyone else.
It wasn’t until much later in life that I discovered the reason behind my struggles: undetected and undiagnosed ADHD and dyslexia.
As a child, I didn’t have a name for what I was experiencing.
I just knew that I found it difficult to focus, and the words on the page would often dance around, making reading a frustrating and exhausting task.
I developed coping mechanisms to get by — mainly by avoiding reading altogether and relying on my creativity and quick thinking (and humor) to cover up my challenges.
But these strategies could only take me so far.
Despite these obstacles, I always had a deep love for storytelling.
Writing was my escape — a way to express myself when words failed me in other areas of my life.
But even though I loved writing, the process was anything but easy.
My thoughts were scattered, and it often felt like I was trying to capture a thousand different ideas at once, only to have them slip through my fingers like sand.
It wasn’t until I was well into adulthood that I finally received a diagnosis.
Learning that I had ADHD and dyslexia was both a relief and a revelation.
